To find a plant that can both thrive in shade and still provide vibrant color is a true joy. Heuchera, also called Coral Bells, is one such plant, and with the Cara Lime Patio Pals Coral Bells, you get three stunning plants and colors all in one low-maintenance package. This decorative container of plants contains Caramel, Pinot Gris, and Pistache Coral Bells. With leaves of ginger, rust, chartreuse, and more, this planter delivers a pop of color to a shady spot, requiring little more maintenance than occasional watering.

Coral Bells are vegetative plants that can even keep their leaves and color through the winter in milder climates. These fast-growing perennials are deer and pest resistant, making them an ideal choice for shady woodland gardens. In places with milder summer temperatures, Coral Bells can even be planted in brighter, sunnier spots. What is more, these plants bloom in the summer with delicate, pollinator-attracting flower spikes of pink and white. Whether replanted in a garden bed or kept in a container, The Patio Pals Cara Lime Coral Bells planter is a versatile perennial option.

Patio Pals Cara Lime Coral Bells Care

Coral Bells grow best in part shade, though they tolerate both shade and sun depending on the climate. With average water needs and tolerance to salt, Cara Lime plants can be transplanted into moist but well-draining soil. While Coral Bells will generally grow just fine without fertilizer, they may benefit from a slow-release fertilizer for perennials or a layer of compost in the early spring to boost new growth. In warmer climates, add a layer of mulch around the base of the plants to aid in moisture retention.

This mounding perennial does not require regular pruning. In fact, unlike many other vegetative perennials, you should avoid cutting back Coral Bells until new growth has developed in the spring, only removing those leaves that have dried up. Flower spikes can be removed after they have finished blooming to give these plants a cleaner appearance. When kept in containers, move Coral Bells into a protective garage in colder climates to ensure their survival through the winter.

Patio Pals Cara Lime Coral Bells Spacing

Coral Bells can be planted as a standalone plant, in a container as a ‘filler’, or in a mass planting. Coral Bells is not particularly invasive or aggressive, but you can plant Patio Pals Cara Lime Coral Bells about 1-2 feet away from other plants to allow them plenty of room to mound and spread. For mass planting, these perennials can be planted a bit closer together.
