Bar-top flavor on a patio-friendly tree. The Persian ‘Bearss’ Lime carries glossy, evergreen leaves, fragrant white blossoms, and loads of smooth, seedless limes with classic cocktail tang and a hint of sweetness. Thin skin, abundant juice, and few thorns make it the go-to “supermarket lime” you can grow at home—on a sunny deck, balcony, or bright indoor window.
Persian ‘Bearss’ Lime Tree Care
Plant in full sun (6–8+ hours) and fast-draining, slightly acidic soil (target pH ~6.0–6.5). In the ground, improve drainage by amending clay with grit and compost; in containers, use a chunky citrus mix. Water deeply when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry and keep moisture even from bloom through fruit fill—never let roots sit in water.
Feed from early spring through midsummer with a citrus fertilizer that includes micronutrients (iron, magnesium, manganese). Lightly prune after harvest to open the canopy, remove crossing shoots, and take off any suckers below the graft. Protect from frost and cold wind (best outdoors in USDA Zones 9–11).
In cooler regions, grow in a large container and overwinter in a bright, cool room (about 50–60°F). Self-fruitful, but pollinators boost yield; expect multiple bloom/fruiting cycles under warm, stable conditions.
Persian ‘Bearss’ Lime Tree Spacing
As a landscape specimen, plan for about 8–12 ft tall by 6–8 ft wide; space trees 8–10 ft apart for good light and airflow, and keep 4–6 ft from walls or paths.
In containers, start with an 18–24"+ diameter pot with excellent drainage and a rolling caddy for easy winter moves; place planters 2–3 ft apart so sunlight reaches all sides and harvest is simple.
