Imagine roses just gently cascading over a wall or off the edge of a container. Well ‘Red Drift’ rose can do that for you! It softens the edges and transports you to those perfect English gardens that we all so envy. The dark green, glossy leaves even shimmer in the sunlight!
‘Red Drift’ is one of those roses that are highly disease resistant so making it one of the easier to care for roses. It blooms through spring and summer, giving you that bright pop of color in the garden. All roses are attractive to pollinators and ‘Red Drift’ is no different and will be a crowd pleaser for them. ‘Red Drift’ would be wonderful mixed with perennials such as Lavender or Artemisia because their foliage will highlight the roses and their foliage.
Red Drift Groundcover Rose Care
‘Red Drift’ is hardy from Zone 4a- 11b. Like all roses, they prefer full sun, a rich but moist well-draining soil and regular watering and fertilizing with a slow release rose food such as Espoma Rose Tone. Mulch plants lightly to retain soil moisture when possible. Since it is a mounding plant, pruning isn’t needed besides removing broken or dead branches.
Red Drift Groundcover Rose Spacing
This is a groundcover rose so it is ideal for covering a large area. It grows 1 ½ ft. tall and 2 ½ ft. wide so plant it 3 ft. apart. Planted en masse it makes a show stopper landscape! Non-stop blooms all summer create the perfect garden so you can also use it as a border plant as well or put it in a cottage garden to highlight taller plants.
