What could be better than your favorite dreamy cottage garden flower in a truly unique color selection? Red Lark Larkspur delivers the romantic and dreamy feel of your favorite delphinium flower but in a distinctive coral-red color. These double flowers in luscious coral-red can reach up to 2.5 feet tall and make excellent cut flowers. Red Lark Larkspur requires no additional staking to keep its beautiful upright habit. Blooming from early summer to early fall, this garden perennial is a sterile hybrid that will not reseed and spread.
Red Lark Larkspur is deer resistant and rabbit resistant. The plant is an excellent choice for mass plantings in cut-flower gardens or cottage gardens. Red Lark Larkspur can be used as a garden specimen plant or focal point with its dazzling color and tall double flowers. Native to Eastern North America, Red Lark Larkspur thrives in cooler climates.
Red Lark Larkspur Care
Choose a location with full sun or part shade for your Red Lark Larkspur. Full sun helps prevent the plant from developing powdery mildew. Red Lark Larkspur prefers rich, well-drained soil with a more basic pH. The plant is hardy in zone 5-8 and is frost tolerant. Red Lark Larkspur has medium water needs; water thoroughly when the soil is dry and check the soil regularly for moisture content. Larkspur is considered a heavy feeder and will benefit from a fertilizer application once a month through the growing season.
Red Lark Larkspur will benefit from regular deadheading. Remove spent flower stems to encourage new growth and new flowers. Red Lark Larkspur does not require any heavy pruning; plants can be left to die back naturally after a hard freeze or can be cut back for a tidier garden appearance.
Red Lark Larkspur Spacing
Red Lark Larkspur will reach up to 24 - 30 inches in height with a spread of 18 inches. Space plants 18 - 24 inches apart.
