Growing Zones
Shortstop Shasta Daisy brings classic white petals and sunny yellow centers to tight spaces without the flop. This compact perennial stays neat at about 15 inches, so you get a clean, polished edge along paths, borders, and patio pots.
Expect a strong flush from late spring into mid-summer, with quick rebloom when you keep flowers picked. The tidy habit pairs easily with grasses and low salvias, and the blooms hold up well for cut arrangements.
Shortstop Shasta Daisy Care
Give 6–8 hours of direct sun daily. Plant in well-drained soil; sandy or loamy mixes are ideal with a pH of 6.0–7.5. Water to establish, then water when the top 1 inch of soil is dry; avoid constantly wet conditions. Feed lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer or a compost top-dress.
Deadhead spent blooms to extend the show; cut stems back to basal foliage after flowering. Divide clumps every 2–3 years in early spring or early fall to maintain vigor. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9; mulch in colder zones to protect crowns over winter.
Shortstop Shasta Daisy Spacing
For a single specimen, allow a 14–18 inch circle. For a crisp edging or mass, plant 12–14 inches on center so plants knit without crowding.
Keep at least 12 inches from paths to accommodate flower spread. In containers, choose a 10–12 inch wide pot with drainage; place in full sun with good airflow.
