Silver Streak Philodendron combines easy care with striking aesthetics, making it a must-have for many gardeners. Its deep green, glossy leaves feature a distinctive streak of creamy yellow and silver running down the center. Each leaf showcases a slightly different streak pattern, ensuring each plant is unique and visually captivating. Like other broad-leaved aroids, Philodendron hederaceum ‘Silver Stripe’ is effective in purifying indoor air and thrives in various settings, whether in your home, dorm, or office.

Best Locations For Growing Silver Stripe Philodendron

Display this Philodendron on a high shelf or atop a bookcase to beautifully showcase its long, trailing stems. Hanging baskets are another great way to grow this tropical epiphyte. Training Silver Stripe to grow vertically on a moss-covered pole or trellis not only highlights the foliage but also encourages the leaves to grow larger. All Philodendrons should be placed where small children and pets cannot access them, as every part of the plant is toxic.

Silver Stripe Philodendron Sunlight Requirements

Philodendrons prefer indirect but bright light. Silver Stripe maintains its unique coloring best in medium to bright light conditions. East and west-facing rooms are typically ideal and help protect the plant from direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day. While Philodendrons can tolerate lower light levels, including only artificial light, their coloration may revert to a more solid green, and the growth of new leaves may slow.

Silver Stripe Philodendron Care

Aroids like Philodendron grow best in a chunky soil mix that retains moisture. Combining an all-purpose indoor potting mix with orchid bark and perlite creates the right balance of soil, air, and water needed for a healthy root system. Training Philodendrons on moss-covered poles encourages larger leaf development and can save space for gardeners in smaller areas. Regularly trim back yellowed or old leaves as they die off.

During the warm summer months, Philodendrons enjoy being outdoors but should be placed in partial or bright shade. Remember to bring them indoors well before nighttime temperatures fall below 50°F (10°C).

Watering Silver Stripe Philodendron

Water Philodendrons about once a week during active growth in spring and summer. Wait until the top third of the soil dries out before watering again. In winter, Philodendrons have lower watering needs and require water about every 10-14 days. Always empty saucers or cache pots of excess water to prevent root rot.

Feeding Silver Stripe Philodendron

Philodendrons are not heavy feeders but benefit from a nutritional boost once or twice during spring and summer. Use a liquid, balanced houseplant formula applied at half the recommended dosage on the package. Fertilizing is unnecessary during the fall and winter months.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
