Best Way To Use The Snake Plant
The Snake Plant is extremely resistant and only needs very little light in order to make photosynthesis. Besides being able to remove toxins, the plant is great for keeping it in the bedroom because it is able to produce oxygen at night.
The plant is as tough as its name implies. But Snake Plant (Sansevieria) also is a versatile indoor plant that requires little care. Also known as Mother in Law's Tongue, snake plants grow upright with wide, blade-like foliage. This is a perfect starter plant for anyone who doubts their growing abilities or have little indoor light. It's also a versatile element for adding color or height to any area of a room — or several rooms! Snake Plant is an excellent choice for a tall thriller in outdoor containers with succulents or other low-water plants, at least for the summer.
The sword-like leaves of Snake Plant can vary some in color and pattern, depending on the variety you choose and their light exposure. But even after a little neglect, they usually stand tall against a wall or window, adding plenty of green and texture. The plants do best in part sun, but can survive low light or heavier sun. Sometimes, a Snake Plant also blooms with a small, tubular-shaped fragrant flower. But who needs a bloom when the large leaves attract plenty of attention.
Snake Plant Care
Snake plants cannot tolerate frost, so you can grow them in the ground only in hotter zones (9b to 11) or in a container you bring inside for winter. Water it a little extra the first few weeks, but don't water if the top inch or soil is moist. Your Snake Plant does better with a little drought or underwatering than it does from overwatering. So, it's a perfect houseplant for people who travel or sometimes forget to water their plants.
Snake Plant Location
If you live in a frost-free zone, you may plant this outdoors in a row of Snake Plants for a striking border or accent to a wall or fence. Space them between 6 inches and 36 inches apart and make sure they get full to partial sun. Indoors this plant is great as a modern decor item in a living room or kitchen. This plant is also recommended in bedrooms.
