With its extra-large leaves and striking silver mottling, Sodiroi Philodendron is a prized addition to any gardener's collection. The heart-shaped leaves can reach up to 8 inches across, while this climbing vine can grow to 4-6 feet indoors. Its dramatic pink shade covers the leaves, petioles, and stems. Native to the rainforests of Colombia, Venezuela, and French Guiana, Philodendron brandtianum—also known as Philodendron Brandi or Silver Leaf Philodendron—is remarkably easy to grow, even for novice houseplant enthusiasts, offering a stunning display year-round.

Best Locations For Growing Sodiroi Philodendron

Higher humidity levels promote vigorous growth and help prevent unsightly brown tips on the leaves, making kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms ideal locations. Train your plant on a moss pole or trellis to encourage vertical climbing, or use hanging baskets to showcase its long trailing stems. Note that all parts of Philodendrons are toxic and may irritate sensitive skin. Keep them out of reach of children and curious pets.

Sodiroi Philodendron Sunlight Requirements

Sodiroi Philodendron exhibits its most vibrant colors in bright to medium indirect light. East and west-facing windows are optimal, providing limited bright light during the early or late part of the day, respectively. If natural light is unavailable, broad-spectrum LED or fluorescent grow lights can effectively support growth.

During the warmer summer months, these plants can thrive outdoors but will need protection from direct sunlight. Position them in partial or bright shade to protect them during the hottest part of the day.

Sodiroi Philodendron Care

Aroid plants thrive in potting mixes with ample air spaces and good moisture retention. Orchid potting mixes containing organic materials like finely shredded bark, coco coir, or charcoal work well. You can improve the drainage of an all-purpose potting mix by adding perlite at a 1:1 ratio.

Healthy, robust side shoots make excellent cuttings for propagation; simply place the stem in water to encourage root growth over a few weeks. Repot mature plants when roots start to emerge from the bottom of the container.

Watering Sodiroi Philodendron

Maintain consistent moisture in the potting mix to support strong growth. The soil should feel like a wrung-out sponge at all times. Check for watering once a week during the summer, reducing to every 10-14 days in winter. To maintain a humidity level of 60-80%, consider using indoor growing tents or a cool mist humidifier. Daily misting with a spray bottle can also be effective.

Feeding Sodiroi Philodendron

An all-purpose houseplant fertilizer works well for Sodiroi Philodendron. Apply it at half the manufacturer’s recommended dosage every 3-4 weeks during the spring and summer months, and then stop fertilizing in the fall and winter.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
