Solera™ Orange Geranium (Pelargonium interspecific 'TOSPL180043') displays clusters of bright orange blooms from late spring through the warm seasons. Each plant reaches about 12 to 18 inches tall, forming a rounded mound of green foliage beneath the colorful flower heads. We find its performance notably reliable in both gardens and containers, where it keeps a consistent show of color. This cultivar represents an appealing choice for those who appreciate strong floral impact with minimal fuss.
Developed from African and European geranium strains, this hybrid exhibits moderate drought tolerance once rooted. In our experience, its pest issues remain limited, and deer often pass it by. Place it in mass plantings for a uniform pop of color, set it along borders as a lively accent, or feature it in patio pots. It adapts well to various conditions, requiring little more than basic care.
Solera™ Orange Geranium Care
Plant in well-draining soil amended with organic matter, and opt for full sun or partial shade based on regional heat levels. Water generously during the establishment phase, then cut back to a moderate schedule once the plant sets roots. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every two to four weeks supports healthy growth and extended bloom time. A slightly acidic to neutral pH suits this geranium best.
Remove spent flower heads to encourage ongoing color. If stems become overgrown, trim them lightly to maintain a compact shape. Container-grown plants benefit from occasional inspection for pests or signs of stress, and winter protection is necessary in colder climates. We suggest bringing potted specimens indoors or treating them as annuals when temperatures drop below freezing.
Solera™ Orange Geranium Spacing
Leave 12 to 15 inches between each geranium in row plantings or mass groupings, allowing each plant to reach its mature width. A single specimen in a border requires a similar radius free of competing foliage. Begin with a container measuring at least 10 inches in diameter for a newly transplanted geranium, and consider upgrading if you plan to add companion plants or grow it to a larger size.
