Glossy, dark green foliage and fluffy, pinkish-purple blooms make the Berry Taffy Bee Balm a stunning plant. The 2.5-inch flowers of the Monarda Sugar Buzz® or Bergamot have tubular flowers that create a very textural element. The flowers bloom during the summer on the ends of tall, sturdy stems that also feature lance-shaped greenery.
Bee Balm is a staple of butterfly gardens as the stunning blooms attract pollinators, but this upright, mounded plant can also be featured in beds, borders, or mass plantings. The clump-forming design is full and can be divided every few years. Grow this beauty as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 9.
Sugar Buzz® Berry Taffy Bee Balm Care
Plant this Bee Balm in full sun to partial shade for best results. Keep the soil damp by watering weekly or when the top few inches of the soil feel dry. Use rich, moist soil that allows for good drainage. Fertilize this perennial each spring to encourage abundant growth.
Pinch back spent flowers to redirect energy into new blooms. All flowers can be trimmed back after flowering is complete. Bee Balm can be propagated through division every few years.
