If you already love Verbena flowers for their dependable blooms, low maintenance, and drought tolerance, just wait until you lay your eyes on this Superbena! The beautiful bicolor lavender flowers of Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst are splashed with white and deep purple. Dark green stems and leaves cascade over container edges to create a waterfall of color. This award-winning Superbena selection resists heat, mildew, and drought.
A lovely addition in both containers and gardens of all kinds, this hardy Superbena has a trailing growth habit that can also grow in mounds up to 12” high. Because of their abundant flowers and lush growth, you can use them as spillers as well as fillers in your containers. You’ll also find that the flowers of Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst are larger and more prolific than other Verbena varieties.
Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst Verbena Care
Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst needs at least four hours of sunlight per day, so be sure to plant it in a sunny location. Other than needing occasional watering when its soil dries out, this Superbena requires little in the way of care. An application of compost or slow-release fertilizer upon planting can provide enough nutrition to keep it happy through the season.
No deadheading is necessary, but a light trim encourages fuller growth and more flowers.
Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst Verbena Spacing
A lush and vigorous grower, Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst can spread up to 30” and trail up to 24”. However, they can be planted as close together as 10-14”. Plant them 10” apart in containers and 14” apart in the landscape. Provide a larger container for this variety to accommodate the abundant growth and flowers.
