Hundreds of rich-red, 1” globes cascade from the Sweet 100 cherry tomato from the time it reaches maturity at 65 days until the first frost (it’s an indeterminate tomato variety). If you love cherry tomatoes and like to use them in recipes, snacks, and meals, this is the variety for you. The non-stop harvest will satisfy any cook, and you may even have bowls to spare for friends! Stew or grill them for a tasty treat, or snack on them fresh. Either way, you’ll love the sweet, juicy taste of this abundant producer.

Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes produce red fruit that is sweet and juicy. Tomato foliage is toxic and should not be eaten. Pruning is not necessary unless you are growing on stakes. Store at room temperature or in a cool room, avoid refrigeration.

Sweet 100 Cherry Tomato Plant Care

Cherry tomatoes are damaged by frost, so wait until after your last frost to plant your seedlings outside. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the expected last frost date. Plant tomato seedlings deep, up to a few inches above the crown. Seedlings should be planted into a compost-enriched, mulched garden bed that gets full sun. Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes require quite a bit of support for their large fruit sets.

No pruning is necessary unless you are growing on stakes. If growing on a stake, prune back to one or two main stems and continue to prune back any suckers or additional stems. Harvest all ripe and nearly ripe fruit before the first frost. You can allow unripe fruit to ripen in newspaper or paper bags at room temperature.

Growing Sweet 100 Cherry Tomato Plants

Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes thrive in full sun and moist soil. They need room to grow, so plant them 3-4’ away from other plants. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date and transplant seedlings outdoors after nighttime temperatures are warm enough to avoid frost.

Grow in a container or hanging basket that is at least 18” wide. Keep the soil consistently moist and fertilize 2 times throughout the season. Support the branches with a tomato cage or structure.

Watering Sweet 100 Cherry Tomatoes

Tomatoes need 1-2” of water per week to thrive.Provide additional irrigation to meet these needs as necessary.

Feeding Sweet 100 Cherry Tomato Plants

Fertilize once or twice in the growing season with a vegetable fertilizer. Feed seedlings with a starter solution at 3-4 weeks old.
