Texas Pink Pomegranate Tree delivers vibrant color and sweet-tart flavor in a hardy, landscape-ready package. Showy pink blooms lead to rosy fruit with jewel-like arils, while the tidy, multi-stem form adds structure to borders, patios, and small orchards.
Tough, heat-loving, and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Grow it as a single-stem accent or a compact hedge, or keep it container-sized on a sunny deck for easy picking and four-season interest.
Texas Pink Pomegranate Tree Care
Provide 6–8+ hours of direct sun for best flowering and fruit sweetness. Plant in well-drained loam or sandy soil, pH 6.0–7.5; avoid chronically wet spots. Water when the top 1–2 inches are dry, keeping soil evenly moist during bloom and fruit swell. Mulch 2–3 inches deep to conserve moisture, keeping mulch a few inches from the trunk. Feed lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer; avoid heavy nitrogen after early summer.
Prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing wood and to maintain an open, vase-shaped canopy; tip back vigorous shoots to control height. Hardy in Zones 7–10; in colder areas, grow in a large container and protect in winter.
Texas Pink Pomegranate Tree Spacing
Specimen: allow 8–12 feet of width and plant 6–8 feet from walls or paths for airflow and harvest access. Hedge or screen: space 6–8 feet on center and tip-prune annually for a dense, fruiting wall.
Containers: start with a 16–20 inch diameter pot (at least 16–18 inches deep) with large drainage holes; upsize gradually as roots fill. Train as a single trunk or maintain 3–5 main stems for a compact, multi-stemmed form. Young plants may benefit from a stake their first windy season.
