This easy to grow fig tree has unusual yellow stripes. Its delicious amber-pink fleshed fruit has pretty yellow and green stripes too. This variety of fig is said to be one of the most flavorful. The taste of fresh figs is so much better than that of the ones in cookie filling or the dehydrated ones. The flowers are hidden inside the developing fruit.

Fig trees can be grown in containers or as specimen plants in your garden. Its five-lobed leaves are deciduous. Ficus carica L.'Tiger' is hardy in USDA planting zones 7 to 10. At maturity, this tree will reach between 10 and 12 feet in height with multiple stems to create a span of equal or greater size.

Tiger Fig Care

Fig trees prefer fun sun conditions with at least 8 hours of direct sunlight each day for best fruit production. Deer tend to leave this tree alone. The fruit ripens in August to September and a single tree can yield 30 to 50 pounds of fruit. Since fig trees are not commonly grown in the US, pests and diseases are rarely an issue.

Tiger Fig Spacing

Space individual plants at least 12 feet apart, center on center. This fig variety is sometimes referred to as Candy Stripe.
