True Blue Butterfly Bush Care
Plant this butterfly bush in full sun. The ideal location will receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Provide fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Water when the top layer of soil feels dry, and apply a thick layer of mulch to prevent the soil from drying out quickly. Feed the plants every few weeks using a balanced fertilizer.
Trim growth by one-third in the spring when new growth appears. Cutting the branches back cleans up the appearance and encourages a bushier form. Avoid cutting back the shrub in fall, which leaves the shrub more vulnerable to winter damage.
