Waikiki Sunset™ makes a spectacular impact with its profuse, variegated foliage of yellow and green that provides emphasis for brilliant yellow flowers. The leaves often become copper tinted with new growth. The cup-shaped flowers are darker in the center. They bloom from spring through summer. This heat-lover is just 2-10 inches high with a spreading habit.
Deer hate Waikiki Sunset™ Lysimachia congestiflora and it has few disease problems. Originating in China, this plant was quite difficult to find until now. It is excellent for use in the landscape around small plants as it grows flat to the ground. Or grow it as a spiller in containers, hanging baskets, and window boxes. Try combining it with blue flowers, such as lobelia, for a stunning effect.
Waikiki Sunset Lysimachia Care
Waikiki Sunset™ would appreciate a light application of a slow-release, balanced fertilizer when established. The plant is self-cleaning, so no deadheading is necessary. It likes moist, well-drained soil that doesn’t dry out in the summer.
Add organic matter to heavy, clay soil at planting time. Plant in part sun to sun. A location with morning sun and afternoon, filtered shade is perfect.
