Lenten Rose is an early-blooming perennial with some of the showiest flowers. Even after the blooms fade, the lush greenery provides color and vitality to a space. The Wedding Party® Shotgun Wedding Lenten Rose has 3-inch wide double flowers. The petals come to a gentle point and feature saturated burgundy spots with crisp white along the margins. This Helleborus hybrid blooms in early spring, making it one of the season's first flowers.
This low-maintenance beauty does well in borders and can be used to create striking mass plantings. Feature this Helleborus hybrid in a container so you can enjoy more flexible placement options and make sure to trim some of the blooms to feature as cut flowers. This upright filler is a favorite of bees, but not so much with foraging animals like deer and rabbits. Grow the Lenten Rose as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 9.

Plant the Lenten Rose in an area with part to full shade. About 4 hours of daylight per day is plenty for this stunner. This plant has medium water needs, and while new plants need to keep to a routine water schedule, established plants are somewhat drought-tolerant. Rich, neutral to mildly alkaline soil is preferred.
Feed the plant using a balanced fertilizer or top dress the soil with organic compost throughout the growing season. Remove any damaged growth as needed to keep the plant looking its best.
