White Eyes Fuchsia (Fuchsia hybrida) produces elegant, bicolor blooms from late spring into fall. The outer sepals display a crisp white tone, while the inner petals reveal a contrasting pink center. Each trailing stem reaches around 12 to 18 inches, creating a cascading show in hanging baskets or patio pots. It delivers reliable, long-lasting color and thrives where many other shade-loving plants falter.
Though originally derived from South American species, this selection manages cooler temperatures well and tolerates bright, indirect light. Deer generally ignore its leaves, and pest problems seldom become severe. Place it in window boxes for a soft color accent, or arrange several in shady borders for a lush, layered look. Our growers appreciate its low-maintenance habit and eye-catching draped form.
White Eyes Fuchsia Care
Plant it in rich, well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH range. Provide full sun to partial shade to promote steady blooms without scorching the delicate flowers. Keep the root zone evenly moist but not waterlogged, and feed every couple of weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Regular watering proves essential during hot spells, as the plants may wilt quickly.
Deadheading spent blossoms encourages a fresh round of color, and pinching back leggy stems helps maintain a dense shape. Thinning out tangled growth aids airflow and reduces the risk of fungal issues. In colder climates, overwinter container-grown plants indoors, keeping them barely moist and away from direct heat sources.
White Eyes Fuchsia Spacing
Space individual plants about 12 to 18 inches apart if you’re creating a row or grouping in a shade garden. A single specimen in a hanging basket or container requires a pot with at least a 10-inch diameter for ample root development. If you plan to mix it with companion plants, consider upsizing to a larger container to accommodate shared growing space.
