Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs bloom in a soft peach color in summer with the bold shape cannas are known for. Canna 'Apricot Frost' grows about 32 to 40 inches tall, with glossy green foliage and warm apricot blooms touched by a deeper center. The color is gentle enough for patio containers but still strong enough to stand out in a sunny border. We recommend it for gardeners who want tropical height in a more compact, easier-to-place form.

This canna grows from rhizomes and loves heat, humidity, and the long days of summer. The flowers bloom from mid-summer into fall and draw hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden. Its shorter stature makes it more practical than taller cannas for containers, narrow beds, and seasonal screening near patios. In zones 8 to 10, Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs can return as perennials; in colder zones, they can be lifted and stored indoors after frost.

Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs Care

Grow Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs in full sun, with at least 6 hours of direct light and best flowering with 8 hours or more. Plant in organically rich, moisture-retentive soil that drains between waterings, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH around 6.0 to 7.0. Wait until the soil has warmed in spring before planting, since cold wet soil can rot canna rhizomes.

Keep newly planted rhizomes only lightly moist until shoots break the soil. Once leaves are expanding, water generously whenever the top few inches dry, since cannas build bigger foliage and steadier flowers with consistent summer moisture. Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced fertilizer or compost-based plant food. Mulch after the soil warms to hold moisture and reduce weed pressure around the clump.

Remove faded flower stalks down to the next developing shoot to keep new blooms moving upward. Cut away tattered leaves at the base when needed, especially after storms. In zones 3 to 7, dig rhizomes after frost blackens the foliage, let them dry for several days, and store them in peat or vermiculite where temperatures stay cool but above freezing.

Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs Spacing

Give Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs 18 to 24 inches of room in garden beds so the foliage can expand without crowding neighboring plants. In a container, choose a sturdy pot at least 18 inches wide for one rhizome, or use a 24-inch planter for a fuller tropical display. Containers need drainage holes, but they should not be allowed to dry hard during hot weather.

Companion Planting

For containers, pair Apricot Frost Canna Lily Bulbs with purslane, calibrachoa, or papyrus for sun-loving companions that suit warm conditions and create different levels around the upright leaves. In landscape beds, switchgrass is a strong partner because it echoes the vertical habit while adding fine texture beside the broad canna foliage. Agastache and African daisies add pollinator value and lower flower color and do not compete with the canna’s peach blooms.
