Not just pretty to admire, but it tastes good too! Berried Treasure® Pink Strawberry has that ornamental and edible charm. No berry says summer like strawberries. The semi-double pink and white flowers with a lush green canopy create a perfect mounding habit. Fragaria ananassa typically is 12 to 16 inches in height and 18 to 24 inches wide. The flower season is from spring till fall, so expect everbearing strawberries all season long.
The long-blooming, prolific flower display will attract not only compliments but bees to the garden. Berried Treasure® Pink is versatile in landscapes when used as a groundcover or edging and tolerates the heat exceptionally well. When displayed in a container, this strawberry plant takes the cake. The fruit display is edible and adorable. This strawberry can be used as a filler and its runners can act as a spiller when planted in a container. The bite-size, edible gems dangle all around the container right in arms-reach.
Berried Treasure® Pink Strawberry Care
With only moderate maintenance, Berried Treasure® Pink Strawberry requires full sun and needs no deadheading. A light cleaning or trimming off spent flowers and/or runners may need from time to time but otherwise, it is not necessary. Strawberries prefer fertile, well-draining, and evenly moist soil. To keep berry production at its best, apply regular applications of fertilizer to the landscape or containers.
Berried Treasure® Pink is hardy to zones 4 through 9. Strawberries will go into a state of dormancy after a few light touches of frost. Cover strawberries with a light mulch of straw or pine needles. For strawberries in containers, ensure they are protected in a sheltered area away from fluctuating freezing and thawing conditions. An unheated shed or garage with some ambient light is a great way to store this buried treasure until next spring. Make sure to water once a month in the winter months, so some moisture is available while dormant.
Berried Treasure® Pink Strawberry Spacing
When planting in the landscape, space Berried Treasure® Pink 8 to 12 inches apart. Typically a 14-inch pot will work the best and space plants approximately 7 inches apart. Berried Treasure® Pink makes the perfect edible and ornamental addition to any garden space.
