Boscobel English Rose

Boscobel English Rose is a flowering shrub featuring upward-facing, rich coral-to-salmon-toned, full rosettes, with a full petal count of 78 per flower. These beautifully formed roses have a delightful myrrh fragrance, with notes of almond, pear, and elderflower. Boscobel Rose was developed by the renowned award-winning English Rose breeder David Austin. This stunning rose reblooms throughout the summer and is sure to delight the senses.  

Boscobel English Rose is hardy in zones 5-8 and reaches a height of 3-4 ft and an equal width. Create a head-turning colorful fragrant hedge or plant it as a single specimen to enjoy all summer long. 

Boscobel English Rose Care

Roses thrive in direct sunlight with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day to encourage blooming. Plant Boscobel English Rose in rich, well-draining soil amended with plenty of organic matter such as garden compost. Avoid planting it in an area where there is competition for nutrients and sunlight because roses are heavy feeders. Plant Boscobel English Rose in an area that is protected from harsh winds. Water the roots deeply, particularly with newly planted roses, and check the soil every few days to make sure it remains moist, but not soggy. Feed Boscobel twice a year with a specially formulated rose food, once at the beginning of the growing season, then again after the first bloom cycle has finished. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the root base to retain soil moisture levels. 

English Roses are vigorous growers and without pruning can become leggy. Pruning will encourage fresh new growth and plentiful blooms the following season as well as shape the plant to create an appealing form. Prune in late winter / early spring when new growth appears. In the first year, only prune if a stem is growing disproportionately while your English Rose is still establishing itself. By the second to third years, cut back stems by 1/3 to maintain vigorous growth. Remove any dead, dying, damaged, or diseased stems. The goal is to open up the center for airflow and sunlight and create a sturdy form. 

Boscobel English Rose Spacing

Boscobel English Rose is an exquisite addition to any mixed border or makes a stunning single specimen in a cottage garden. Allow for the eventual mature width of 3-4 feet in each direction so the rose gets plenty of air circulation and sunlight. For a hedge application, plant each rose approximately 2 feet apart on center.
