Candyland Combination splashes containers with sherbet‑bright color from late spring right through the first hard frost. Hot‑pink Superbells Pink drapes over the rim, fizzy orange Superbells Dreamsicle fills the middle, and lemony Superbells Yellow pops between, each Calibrachoa blanketing its stems in petunia‑sized trumpets. Plants rise just 8–10 inches then tumble more than two feet, creating an instant, candy‑striped waterfall that hummingbirds and butterflies cannot resist. Tuck one recipe into a hanging basket or patio pot and the show begins within weeks of planting.
Native to South American hillsides, these Calibrachoa shrug off heat, tolerate brief dry spells, and laugh at summer humidity. Their naturally mounded‑then‑trailing habit means every component plays the “spiller” role, so Candyland excels in baskets, window boxes, and as a ground‑hugging edge for sunny borders. Flowers clean themselves, so no tedious deadheading, and the trio offers impressive disease resistance compared with old‑school petunias.
Candyland Combination Care
Plant the mix in a 12–14 inch container filled with a lightweight, well‑drained potting mix. Position the pot where it receives at least six hours of direct sun; a dash of afternoon shade helps colors stay strong in hot climates. Water deeply, then allow the top inch of mix to dry before watering again—soggy roots invite trouble. Feed every other week with a balanced water‑soluble fertilizer and shear plants by one‑third in midsummer to spark fresh growth and continuous color.
In all but frost‑free zones these calibrachoas grow as annuals, blooming nonstop until freezing nights arrive. Overwinter cuttings under bright light if you’d like to restart the same varieties next spring, otherwise discard spent plants and refresh with new plugs when danger of frost passes. Indoors they require high light and excellent air flow to avoid stretching.
Candyland Combination Spacing
One combination pack fills an 11–12 inch basket; choose a 14 inch pot if you prefer extra air space around the crowns. For window boxes space combinations 16–18 inches apart so trails mingle without crowding. In garden beds set plants 18 inches on center for a solid carpet of pink, yellow, and orange, or wider if mixing with taller annuals and grasses. Use containers of at least two gallons to cut back on daily watering during peak summer heat.
