A rose that is unbelievably hardy for northern zones. Super Hero Rose sports a brilliant red, double bloom that keeps blooming all summer long. Used as a foundation planting or incorporated into an existing Cottage Garden this Rose bush is sure to dress up your garden with scent and color.
Super Hero works as an informal hedge, along a fenceline or as a specimen for the cut flower garden. This is a Rose that will be at home wherever you decide to place it. Black Spot and other diseases are not a threat. Deer and rabbits also stay far away. Super Hero Rose is perfect for a smaller garden in an urban setting. Pollution is not a challenge.
Easy Elegance® Super Hero Rose Care
All Roses prefer a full sun spot to soak up the heat and put in a good show of blooms. Well drained, moist soil is another must have. Using soaker hoses or drip irrigation for supplemental watering helps to keep the foliage dry. Super Hero likes a soil pH of neutral to alkaline and will benefit from annual top dressing of fertilizer. A well balanced, slow release food is recommended.
Pruning Super Hero Rose is very straightforward. This shrub blooms on current season growth and likes to be tidied up after a long winter. A simple cutting back of the whole plant to 6-8 inches from the ground will spur vigorous new growth for the season and get rid of any dieback from winter. Mulching with leaves or organic compost in the fall will help protect the root crown, although these tough Roses do fine without protection. The rootstock for Super Hero is not grafted like other varieties and makes this plant one reliable grower year in and year out.
Easy Elegance® Super Hero Rose Spacing
Super Hero is a medium sized Rose and looks better when planted in groups. The mature height is 3-5 with a width of 3-4 feet. Spacing plants at 4 feet on center will allow for proper air circulation and allow blooms to form on all sides.
