Everlasting Revolution Hydrangea is a giant Mophead type that has all of the colors all season. Purple, maroon, deep pink, and green shades all make an appearance on each of the flower heads as they age through the summer. Shades may tend to be more blue when planted in acidic soil, but this Hydrangea will remain just as colorful. Another great aspect of Everlasting® Revolution is that pruning can be done at any time without risking the loss of future blooms. This lovely Hydrangea blooms on new and old growth.
The smaller size of Everlasting® Revolution Hydrangea makes it perfect for small gardens and container growing. The blooms are long lasting on the shrub and in the vase. Hydrangeas are a great addition to any cut flower arrangement. The giant mophead blooms stay upright on this shrub unlike other varieties that tend to droop from the weight of the flower.
Everlasting Revolution Hydrangea Care
Hydrangeas can survive in a wide range of soil pH. More acidic soil make the blooms turn more blue or purple. More alkaline soil will make the blooms more pink or red. Everlasting®age. Revolution Hydrangea will react to the soil pH also, but keeps the wide variety of aging flower colors. All hydrangeas prefer a moist soil that still has good drainage. A site that has full sun with a little bit of shade either in the morning or late in the afternoon is ideal. A good mulch of leaves or organic compost in the fall will help this Hydrangea to stay happy through the winter.
Fertilizer is needed once a year as the blooms are beginning to form early in the season. A slow release, well balanced fertilizer will support the heavy blooming that this shrub does. Pruning is a breeze usually only needed early in spring before the new growth emerges. Any dead, dying, diseased or diagonal branches can be cut out to encourage fresh, healthy growth. If desired, deadheading can be done at the end of the blooming cycle to neaten up this Hydrangea.
Everlasting Revolution Hydrangea Spacing
This low growing Hydrangea has a height of 2-3 feet and a spread of 2-3 feet. Spacing of 3 feet, center on center, is needed when planting in a group. Container growing Everlasting® Revolution is also possible. A container of at least 24 inches in diameter is needed. Keeping shrubs in pots requires attention to watering. Hot weather will require more watering.
