Sun-kissed, honey-sweet, and uniquely golden, Fall Gold loads canes with translucent amber berries that taste like dessert right off the vine. This everbearing standout treats you to a late-summer/early-fall harvest on first-year canes, with an encore the following early summer—perfect for snacking, jam, freezing, and showy fruit salads that actually look as special as they taste.
Fall Gold Raspberry Care
Plant in full sun (light afternoon shade in hot summers) and well-drained, organically rich soil with a slightly acidic pH around 5.5–6.5. Mix compost at planting, then water deeply to keep soil consistently moist—never soggy—especially from bloom through berry fill.
A 2–3" mulch layer (wood chips, shredded leaves, straw) helps regulate moisture and suppress weeds. Feed lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer or a top-dress of compost. Provide a simple wire trellis or T-post system to keep canes upright and fruit clean.
Pruning options:
• For the biggest, easiest fall crop: cut all canes to the ground in late winter (primocane system).
• For two crops: after the early-summer harvest, remove spent canes at the base; leave the current season’s canes to produce the fall crop, then thin to the strongest 4–6 canes per foot in late winter.
Netting deters birds near ripening. Generally hardy and productive in USDA Zones 4–9.
Fall Gold Raspberry Spacing
In rows, space plants 18–24 inches apart with 6–8 feet between rows for airflow and access.
For hedging a bed edge, 18 inches on center creates a fruiting ribbon; for individual stools, give a 2–3 foot circle. In containers, use one plant per 18–20"+ pot with a sturdy stake or short trellis and keep planters 2–3 feet apart.
