Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily brings soft pink flowers on a compact plant made for small beds and patio pots. Lilium asiaticum Fantasiatic Pink stays around 10 to 12 inches tall and 10 to 12 inches wide, offering the full lily look without asking for much space or support. The shorter stems also make the blooms easier to enjoy up close, whether you are planting near a walkway or cutting a few for the house. We find this one especially useful where standard Asiatic lilies would feel too tall or a bit out of scale.
This bulbous perennial has an upright habit, green strap-like foliage, and a clean summer bloom period that fits neatly into mixed plantings. Like other Asiatic lilies, it is deciduous and winter hardy through zone 3, with flowers that are well suited to cutting and appealing to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily works well in the front half of a sunny border, in grouped plantings near seating areas, or in decorative containers where the soft pink color can be seen at eye level. Because it stays compact, it also slips into smaller gardens more easily than many larger lilies that need deeper layering to look balanced.
Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily Care
Plant Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily in full sun in a loose, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Good drainage is important, especially in winter, so raised beds or amended garden soil can help in heavier ground. This lily grows best where the soil stays evenly moist but never soggy.
Water when the top few inches of soil have dried and soak the root zone well rather than sprinkling lightly. Try to keep water off the foliage and flowers, since wet leaves and petals can invite disease issues during bloom. A slow-release fertilizer in spring or a light feeding as shoots begin active growth is usually enough, and the foliage will die back after the plant finishes its seasonal cycle.
Remove spent flowers once blooming wraps up so the plant puts energy back into the bulb instead of seed production. Leave the stems and leaves in place until they yellow, since that time helps recharge next year’s growth. In colder container plantings, move pots to a protected spot for winter or add mulch over the soil surface after freeze-up.
Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily Spacing
Space plants about 10 to 12 inches apart so each bulb has room to fill out without crowding its neighbors. For containers, a pot at least 12 inches wide works well for a small grouping and gives the bulbs enough soil depth to settle in well.
Combine Fantasiatic Pink Asiatic Lily with catmint and dianthus for a sunny planting that keeps color going after the lily bloom passes. In containers, coleus and lobelia make a nice match, with the foliage and trailing habit helping the pink flowers look even softer.
