Growing Zones
This white flowering clematis has been planted in gardens for over a century. Its dinner plate 6- to 8-inch-wide snow-white flowers have attractive ribbing down the center of each petal and contrasting coffee-colored anthers. Henryi Clematis will grow to between 8 and 10 feet in height with a 1 to 2-foot spread in a full to partially sunny location. This repeat bloomer will make a statement in your garden for many years when grown in USDA plant hardiness zones 4 to 8.
Henryi Clematis is bee, butterfly, and hummingbird friendly. Deer and rabbits tend to leave it alone. This clematis will grow best when planted in the ground near a trellis, arbor, fence, wall, or another vertical structure. Use it as a thriller plant in a very large container. Add the white flowers produced on this perennial to flower arrangements.
Henryi Clematis Care
This clematis has moderate moisture requirements. Clematis are heavy feeders. Add a balanced fertilizer in the spring and continue fertilizing throughout the growing season as directed on the package. There’s no need to deadhead this plant for flowers to be produced all summer long.
Henryi Clematis vine belongs to pruning group 2, which means it blooms on new wood and old wood and produces early-season blooms on the previous season’s growth. A second flush of flowers appears on new growth. In the early spring (February or March), prune 12 inches from each shoot above the first pair of new swollen leaf buds. Be sure to remove any dead, damaged, or weak stems too.
Henryi Clematis Spacing
Space individual plants a minimum of two feet apart. They’ll appreciate having room to grow.
