Joybera Orange Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) produces orange daisy-like flowers from late spring into early fall. It generally grows 12 to 16 inches tall and forms neat rosettes of green foliage. The intense petal color enlivens borders or patio containers. This selection surpasses standard gerberas with its steady bloom production and sturdy habit.
Originally native to Africa, it adapts well to multiple climates, showing moderate drought tolerance and minimal pest issues. Deer tend to ignore its foliage, which contributes to hassle-free gardening. We recommend using it for mass plantings, edging flower beds, or brightening up balconies. The bold appearance also makes it a popular gift plant.
Joybera Orange Gerbera Care
Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, and locate it in full sun or partial sunlight. Water consistently during the active growing season, then scale back once roots are established. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer applied every few weeks encourages healthy flower displays. Mulch lightly around the base to maintain moisture while preventing soggy conditions.
Deadheading spent flowers extends the show of color, and light trimming of leggy stems keeps the plant neat. No heavy shearing or pinching is necessary, though removing damaged leaves maintains good health. In cool regions, move potted gerberas to a sheltered space when temperatures drop, reducing watering during dormancy. Containers should have adequate drainage holes to avoid root rot.
Joybera Orange Gerbera Spacing
Place each gerbera about 12 to 15 inches apart for groupings or mass plantings. A single plant in a mixed border needs at least one foot of open space on all sides. A new gerbera starts well in a 10-inch container, though larger pots are recommended if you pair it with companion plants or wish to encourage extensive root growth.
