Growing Zones
The bold, trumpet-shaped blooms of the Landmark Rhododendron welcome in spring each May.
The flowers are a vibrant shade of pink that is almost red and feature specs of dark pink for dimension and subtle detail. Each bloom is impressive on its own, but the flowers grow in clusters for a truly eye-catching display. The lustrous mahogany-bronze foliage is long and narrow and stays in place year-round.
This Rhododendron has an upright growth habit and grows about 6 feet tall and wide, making it a good size for a hedge or to provide privacy in a backyard or patio. This broadleaf shrub retains its foliage, so this plant still provides landscape color even after the flowers fade. The Landmark Rhododendron grows as a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 8.
Landmark Rhododendron Care
This Rhododendron needs partial to full shade. Water when the top layer of soil dries out, especially during the first year. Established plants can dry out more between watering, but give them a drink during a dry period. Plant in moist, well-drained, rich, and acidic soil.
Fertilize in the spring using balanced plant food. A layer of organic mulch will feed the plant and help prevent the soil from drying out as quickly. Prune after the flowers fade.
Landmark Rhododendron Spacing
The Landmark Rhododendron is an upright, woody-stemmed perennial that grows 5 to 6 feet tall and wide. Shrubs can be planted 4 to 6 feet apart.
