Growing Zones
A unique addition to the garden in contrast with the typical orange and coral colored daylily, this perennial flower blooms as dark as red wine. The Little Grapette Daylily begins with green foliage and blossoms to a beautiful, deep purple colored foliage. Blooming in May through August, this flower adds constant classic, yet mature blooms to the garden. This flower can be planted within the landscape to perpetual color throughout the warm season.
The Little Grapette Daylily is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. It cannot, however, be trusted around Deer. The general growing habit of this Daylily is upward, and then outward. The blooms are tall and plentiful, but it is mounding in nature so will take up space vertically and horizontally. For this reason, it would be best to plant within garden beds, or along the house or fence. It likely would take over any container it’s planted in.
Little Grapette Daylily Care
This perennial plant thrives in hardiness zones three through eight, making it very hardy. It can tolerate either full or partial sun. The Little Grapette Daylily can tolerate a large range of soil qualities and acidity. This perennial plant enjoys a low to average amount of water.
Spent flowers can be cut back after blooming for cosmetic purposes. This will not extend blooming time.
Little Grapette Daylily Spacing
The Little Grapette Daylily can reach 12 inches in height. It should be spaced 18 to 24 inches apart due to its mounding nature.
