Napa grape cherry tomatoes are many gardeners favorite in taste, ease, and use. The 1”-long, elongated globes are a shiny, vibrant red that is irresistible in the garden. They have a sweet flavor and produce an abundant harvest. This is a vigorous variety that sets prolific fruit. Use these cherry tomatoes in salads, stews, sauces, chutney, quiche, paste, and casseroles. They are also great as a stand-alone snack! This is an indeterminate fruit bearing tomato, so it bears fruit all season long.
Tomato foliage is toxic and should not be eaten. Avoid refrigerating tomatoes, store them at room temperature or in a cool space. Napa grape hybrid cherry tomatoes are tasty, popular cherry tomatoes that have 1” fruit that weighs about 1 ounce. Tomatoes require full sun, support and plenty of room to grow.
Napa Grape Hybrid Cherry Tomato Plant Care
Plant Napa grape cherry tomato seedlings into the garden after your last frost. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Seedlings emerge between 1-2 weeks, and can be transplanted into a mulched, compost-enriched garden bed after they’ve been hardened off and all danger of frost has passed. This variety takes 65 days to mature. Tomatoes require evenly moist soil, full sun, and a support structure. Harvest all nearly-ripe fruit before your first frost and store at room temperature in newspaper or paper bags and allow to ripen.
Growing Napa Grape Hybrid Cherry Tomato Plants
Napa grape hybrid cherry tomatoes require full sun conditions and 36-48” of space. Use a tomato cage or stake to support the growth. Apply compost and mulch your garden soil to retain moisture and stabilize soil temperatures. No pruning is required if you are growing your cherry tomatoes in cages. Prune or remove discolored leaves to keep the plant healthy. Suckers can be removed once they reach 6” in length. If growing cherry tomatoes on stakes, prune back shoots to one or two main stems and tie those stems to the stakes.
Cherry tomatoes can be grown in large containers. Use a tomato cage or structure to support the branches as it grows. Keep the container consistently watered and in full sun.
Watering Napa Grape Hybrid Cherry Tomatoes
Keep the soil evenly moist all season long. Cherry tomatoes require 1-2” of moisture per week. Water every other day if you are not getting enough rain.
Feeding Napa Grape Hybrid Cherry Tomato Plants
Tomatoes can benefit from a garden fertilizer once a season. You may also apply a starter solution to seedlings after 3-4 weeks.
