The Northern Exposure™ Red Coral Bells is a hardy perennial known for showy foliage. Large lobed leaves are an intense shade of red and have toothed edges. While Heuchera stands out because of its foliage, this beauty also blooms. Tall branched stems with delicate white flowers gracefully rise above the leaves during the late spring.
Coral Bells is a clump-forming mounded plant teeming with foliage. At 12 to 15 inches tall, this plant is a great option to introduce texture to a bed, low border, or mass planting. The bold red foliage adds color and can break up expanses of green or plant near perennials with red blooms for a cohesive look. Hummingbirds and butterflies will be drawn to the springtime blooms. Heuchera is a hardy perennial in USDA zones 3 through 9.
Northern Exposure™ Red Coral Bells Care
Plant the Northern Exposure™ Red Coral Bells in a spot with full to partial sun. Soil can be neutral, but it should be fertile and well-drained. Give the plant one inch of water weekly for the first year. Once acclimated, Coral Bells are drought-tolerant but continue to water this plant to keep it looking its best. Feed this perennial using a balanced, slow-release plant food in the spring.
Remove the flower stems after the blooms fade to keep a tidy look and direct more energy into the foliage. The leaves will die back after the first frost, so remove dead growth in the fall. Coral Bells can be propagated through division every few years.
Northern Exposure™ Red Coral Bells Spacing
Northern Exposure™ Red Coral Bells will reach 12 to 15 inches tall and 15 to 18 inches wide. Space plants 15 to 18 inches apart for a full planting.
