Pink Knock Out Rose keeps bright pink single blooms coming for months with very little rose drama. Rosa 'Radcon' flowers heavily from spring into fall, with clean, open petals set against deep green foliage. The shrub grows about 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, offering color you can see from across the yard. Our landscape designer often chooses it for sunny foundation beds if customers want a rose that looks polished between pruning sessions.
This variety is a pink sport of the original Knock Out® Rose and was found by Israel Montesino. It has the same bushy habit, black spot resistance, drought tolerance once established, and self-cleaning bloom cycle that made the series so popular. Pink Knock Out Rose earned the American Rose Trials for Sustainability Master Rose award in 2019. Use it as a low flowering hedge, specimen shrub, mass planting, container rose, or long-blooming partner for mixed shrub and perennial beds.
Pink Knock Out Rose Care
Plant Pink Knock Out Rose in full sun with at least 6 hours of direct light daily. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost or aged organic matter. Slightly acidic to neutral soil is preferred, though this rose adapts well in average garden soil with good drainage.
Water deeply after planting and keep the root zone evenly moist through the first growing season. Established plants tolerate dry periods, but weekly deep watering during heat helps maintain flower production. Fertilize in early spring with a rose fertilizer, then feed lightly after bloom cycles during the growing season if growth slows. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and reduce soil splash, leaving the crown uncovered.
Prune Pink Knock Out Rose in late winter or early spring as new buds begin to swell. Remove dead, weak, or crossing stems, and reduce the shrub by about one-third to renew branching. Deadheading is not required because the plant is self-cleaning, though light trimming can refine the shape after a heavy bloom cycle.
Pink Knock Out Rose Spacing
Space Pink Knock Out Rose 3 to 4 feet apart for hedges, mass plantings, or repeated color through a sunny bed. Allow 4 feet from walkways and nearby shrubs so the plant has air movement and room to stay rounded. For containers, use a pot at least 18 inches wide with drainage holes, and water more often during summer because potted roses dry quickly.
Around Pink Knock Out Rose, use lavender and catmint near the front of the bed for aromatic foliage, pollinator activity, and similar sunlight needs. Behind or beside the roses, bluebeard and switchgrass can add late-season texture and keep the planting drought tolerant once established. In containers, use bacopa or lantana at the edge for seasonal color that appreciates sun and regular watering.
