Purple Fountain Grass – Pennisetumsetaceum ‘Rubrum’ – is beautiful, regardless of whether you plant it in your landscape or a container. Maroon blades of grass retain their beautiful color from emergence in the spring until the late fall. Come to the end of the summer, purple seedheads emerge and fade to a bronze color. In cooler climates, this plant will behave as an annual, but in milder climates will return as a perennial. Also, it will not reseed into undesired locations unexpectedly.
