A top performer in breeder trials, Sound of My Heart Daylily makes our heart skip a beat. A vigorous, reliable rebloomer, this one is uniquely beautiful too. The large five-inch fragrant flowers are a pale rose highlighted with a raspberry eye and picotee edge to match. C’mon, get over yourself! The flowers open flat, showing off even more, and bloom all summer, to the delight of bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Like other daylilies, it can bloom its heart out even in rough locations, from polluted cityscapes, poor soils, slopes, salted roadways, and even under Black Walnut trees (which are toxic to many other plants).
Topping off at 28 inches, Sound of My Heart is compact enough for containers, be a star player in a mixed border, or the star of an all-summer river of bloom beginning typically in early July. It will thrive happily in sun or partial shade, with little help from the gardener, slowly increasing over the years so you can share with your friends. This particular hybrid is a tetraploid, giving it more blossoms and vigor than standard or diploid daylilies.
Rainbow Rhythm® Sound of My Heart Daylily Care
Sound of My Heart is a hybrid via the Rainbow Rhythm Series of Hemerocallis from hybridizer Chris Myers, notable for their vigorous growth and stupendous flower count. It will thrive in soils from poor to fertile, alkaline to acid, and only needs low to average water.
They are moderate feeders in terms of fertilizer, so for optimal bloom, some slow-release fertilizer in spring, or monthly liquid fertilizer would be ideal. Deadheading is only necessary for cosmetic purposes; Sound of My Heart will rebloom regardless.
Rainbow Rhythm® Sound of My Heart Daylily Spacing
An appropriate spacing for one division of Sound of My Heart Daylily would be 18 to 24 inches.
