Growing Zones
A climbing rose can grace a trellis, arbor, or fence with its delicate blooms, and the deep yellow flowers of Rise Up Amberness will thrill and delight. But if you prefer a shrub rose, you can enjoy these blooms in an upright rose; this versatile mini-climber can grow either way! Although called a climber, this rose reaches only up to 5 feet high and 3 feet wide, so it’s not going to take over your landscape. Maybe that’s disappointing, though, since the amber petals in a classic rose shape will appeal all summer long.
Whether it climbs or grows as a shrub, one or more of these roses needs to go near an outdoor living space. The flowers are exceptionally fragrant, appearing in clusters on sturdy stems. Each has a golden yellow stamen in the center, too, so the flowers offer a pure golden look. And they will keep on coming all summer; there is no need to deadhead the spent flowers. It can take the cold, so grow this climber in zones 4 through 8.
Rise Up Amberness™ Climbing Rose Care
Place your Rise Up Amberness where it will get at least 6 hours of sunlight a day for best performance. Although disease-resistant, give it some space to spread and water regularly near the base of the plant. If you want that climbing growth, be sure to place it near a trellis or other upright structure so you can fully display its rich yellow flowers. Give it average soil that drains well.
Prune Rise Up Amberness Rose in spring as new buds begin to appear. How you prune depends on your preferred growth habit for the rose. Either train it to climb and trail or to grow as a medium rose shrub. Fertilize it with a balanced granular rose fertilizer after pruning in spring and then regularly, according to the product directions.
Rise Up Amberness™ Climbing Rose Spacing
Since this is a mini-climber, be sure to place the rose and any trellis or other climbing structure close enough to one another, probably no more than 1.5 feet. If planting several together, give them room to breathe by placing them about 1 to 2 feet apart, depending on the type of growth habit and pruning you plan.
