Pinkish roses add class to a garden, especially to cottage gardens. Rise Up Lilac Days Climbing Rose also can add height and trailing interest with delicate pink-lilac blooms. This mini climber can grow as a shrub or climb up a trellis. It’s really up to the gardener to train the versatile little rose or let it do its thing after only once-a-year pruning. No matter the shape, when the sun hits the many clusters of blossoms, this little rose will rise up and shine with classic appeal.

Breeder Chris Warner of the U.K. developed this rose to combine the versatility of its growth habit with constant blooming in summer. It will rebloom with little effort from gardeners. At 5 to 8 feet high and 2 to 4 feet wide at maturity, the stunning rose can rise up above other low-growing roses or form a border by planting several against a fence or trellis. And they won’t have to wait long for those summer blooms to appear.

Rise Up Lilac Days Rose Care

Plant this mini climbing rose in full sun and in average soil that drains well. After that, there is not much more it needs. You can let it grow naturally the first season or start training it on a trellis right away. The rose should thrive in zones 4 through 8, so it can take the cold. In the warmest of those zones, it might benefit from a little shade in afternoon heat, but needs at least 6 hours of sun exposure a day to perform its best.

There is no need to deadhead flowers as they fade; the plant does that for you. Prune Rise Up Lilac Days Rose in spring as new buds begin to show. Prune away dead or damaged limbs, and shape it depending on whether you prefer to let it grow as a shrub or a climber. Fertilize it with a balanced granular rose fertilizer after pruning in spring and then throughout the growing season, according to the product directions.

Rise Up Lilac Days Rose Spacing

Be sure to place this mini climbing rose close enough (no more than about 1.5 feet) to reach the trellis or climbing structure if you want it to ramble. When planting several to form a border or hedge, give them room for air by placing them about 1 to 2 feet apart, depending on the type of growth habit and pruning you plan.
