Skyward™ Pink Spike Speedwell (Veronica hybrid ‘Balskywink’) showcases upright spires of soft pink blooms, rising above a tidy mound of deep green foliage from late spring into summer. This dense habit delivers an abundance of colorful wands without flopping, while hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies find the nectar irresistible. Reaching around 14-18 inches in height, it suits smaller garden beds or acts as a focal point in container plantings. Even better, deer and rabbits usually skip this perennial, so you can relax and admire its light pink flower spikes.

Each plant demonstrates high resistance to powdery mildew and performs well in sunny borders. This speedwell, developed with modern breeding lines, also has moderate moisture needs and tolerates occasional dryness once established. Place it near walkways or at the front of beds for a consistent summer show. Containers provide another great option if you desire a vertical accent on patios or decks.

Skyward™ Pink Spike Speedwell Care

Plant Skyward™ Pink Spike Speedwell in well-draining soil with a pH in the neutral range. Full sun (six or more hours daily) fosters sturdy stems and maximizes blooming, while partial shade works well in hotter climates. Water regularly, especially in the first season as the plant establishes its roots. Incorporate a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to maintain lush growth.

Light pruning after the main bloom window helps the plant retain its neat shape and rebloom later in the season. In containers, check moisture levels more frequently, as potted plants dry faster. Over winter, trim dead stems to the ground once frost hits. A thin layer of mulch around the crown helps protect roots from freezing temperatures.

Skyward™ Pink Spike Speedwell Spacing

Allow 16 to 19 inches between plants if you’re creating a row or mass planting, giving each clump ample airflow. For container growing, pick a pot roughly 10 to 12 inches across, providing enough room for its root system and tall flower spikes.
