This spectacular columbine produces 2- to 3-inch light blue, long-lasting, tubular-shaped, upward-facing flowers with white corollas in late spring and early summer. The blossoms rise above its attractive blue-green foliage. This North American native perennial is similar in color and form to the famous native Colorado Blue Columbine.
Songbird 'Blue Bird' Columbine grows in a bushy clump to a height of between 12 and 18 inches with a spread of 12 to 16 inches. It’s a great choice for border, island or cottage gardens and mass planting or naturalized areas in your landscape. It can also be grown as a container plant. This plant is short-lived but is prone to reseeding without becoming invasive.

Plant Songbird 'Blue Bird' Columbine in full sun to partial shade locations in USDA plant hardiness zones 3 to 9 in well-drained soil. This perennial attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and bees but is resistant to deer and rabbits. Trim it to the ground after the flowers and leaves have faded in mid-summer. Skin contact with the sap may be mildly irritable.
