Summer Wave Large Amethyst Wishbone Flower will bring a shady garden area to life. With tubular purple flowers and green foliage, the hybrid wishbone flower is hard to miss. This plant has a short trailing habit that will get 8 to 10 inches in length. Its flowers will bloom from spring into fall.
The wishbone flower is native to Asia and Africa. It’s tubular flowers attract hummingbirds and it is deer resistant. Torenia Summer Wave is an excellent addition to hanging baskets and window boxes especially when paired with Supertunias. This plant will even thrive under a shady canopy in the landscape all season long.

Easy to maintain, Torenia thrives in cool dappled sun. It tolerates Full sun but prefers part sun. The flowers are self-cleaning, so no deadheading is required. This plant has average soil and watering requirements. Under too damp conditions, Torenia is susceptible to root rot. Make sure that the soil is well-draining and kept moist. Apply fertilizer or compost on garden beds annually. If planted in a container, apply fertilizer regularly. To create branching, pinch back tips to keep Torenia from getting leggy. Prune back several times in a season to keep it looking it’s best.
A hardy perennial to zones 9 to 10, all other zones the wishbone flower is an annual. It does not tolerate frost, so overwintering is not recommended.
