Large, long-lasting blooms make the Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan or Rudbeckia hirta Sunbeckia 'Paulina' a charming addition to a landscape. Two rows of deep yellow petals surround a large brown seed cone. The flowers bloom in the summer and fall. Dark green foliage provides contrast against the sunny blooms and anchors the plant.

Use this plant as a container filler, or add height and color to a mixed bed. The bold flowers look lovely as part of a border or would make a stunning mass planting. Container-grown plants will brighten up a deck or patio space. The flowers support pollinators like bees for added wildlife value.

Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan Care

Plant Black-Eyed Susans in full sun to enjoy the most prolific blooms. This plant prefers rich, loamy soil that promotes drainage. Water only when the soil dries out because the Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan can handle drier conditions. Fertilize annually in the spring to encourage lots of blooms.

Trim stems in the spring to encourage a full, bushy form. Remove faded flowers to promote new blooms. The Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan grows as a perennial in zones 7 through 10 but is an annual in most areas. Clear damaged growth in the spring to make way for new growth in warm climates, or remove everything in the fall when growing this plant as an annual.

Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan Spacing

The Sunbeckia® Paulina Black-Eyed Susan reaches 14 to 16 inches tall and wide. Space plants 14 to 16 inches apart for a dense planting.
