Nicknamed Million Bells, Calibrachoa are very rewarding to grow as plants for your full sun (6+ hours) garden, hanging baskets or indoor houseplants. SuperBells Cherry Star Calibrachoa does not disappoint with its bright cherry pink petals and yellow star and is easy to grow with a few good habits on your part.

Heat tolerant, full sun loving annuals in Zones 3-8, Calibrachoa are hardy in Zones 9a through 11b. They are not tolerant of wet poor draining soil. Plant containerized plants outside after danger of frost is past. Calibrachoas like neutral soil pH of 5.5 to 5.8.

Superbells Cherry Star Calibrachoa Care

Telltale signs of imbalance or need for fertilizer is yellowing of leaf or lackluster leaf appearance. If you have fertilized regularly, the pH may be too high or too low and you will need to adjust accordingly. Applying chelated iron will help balance the soil pH and allow the plant to take up the much needed iron from the soil. Proper watering and regular feeding of indoor or basket plants is key to enjoying calibrachoas, as is dressing with compost when planted in the garden. Plants in the ground should not need watering unless in drought conditions.

Calibrachoa make great hanging baskets due to their mounding habit and bloom continuously if lightly deadheaded and kept into shape (giving a light haircut to improve branching and encourage good form). You may lose a few flowers for a couple days, but they will come back. Trim in late July or early August for season long flowering.

Superbells Cherry Star Calibrachoa Spacing

Space your plants 12 to 24 inches apart. With a low, mounding habit, topping out at 6 to 12 inches, these plants pair wonderfully with ageratum, alyssum, sweet potato vine and other annuals and compliment dark rich colors as well as bright whites for a stand out presentation.
