Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose est une des plus belles de toutes les demoiselles (translation: one of the most beautiful of all the young ladies). Regardless of how you say it, Sweet Mademoiselle™ is one of the finest roses you’ll ever see! It features 5-inch, double, blush-pink florets that deepen in color as the temperature rises and emerald-green foliage. This vigorous hybrid tea rose is a continuous bloomer and adds interest from spring until fall. Also known as Rosa Sweet Mademoiselle™ ('Meinostair'): Patent PP28,659, and Rosa 'Mademoiselle Meilland’, Sweet Mademoiselle™ grows to a maximum height of 4 to 6 feet and spread of 3 to 4 feet. This shrub’s lush flowers and foliage can be enjoyed outside in borders, beds, and containers or, appreciated inside in bouquets almost all year.
This rose’s lush, 40-petal blooms produce a sweet, fruity perfume that captivates pollinating bees. Its gorgeous blooms are equally attractive to deer, so surround Sweet Mademoiselle™ with deer-resistant plants such as lavender and foxglove to protect it. A native of France, this upright-growing shrub is relatively disease resistant and cold hardy in zones 5 to 11. Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose is a good option for any gardener yearning to enhance their yards, decks, and/or patios with a classic hybrid tea rose.
Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose Care
Choose a location that gets a minimum of six hours of full sun. Plant Sweet Mademoiselle™ in loamy, acidic, well-draining soil that has a pH of 6.0 to 6.5. Amend nutrient-deficient and/or alkaline soil with peat moss/coco coir/perlite. To maintain soil moisture, apply a 2-inch mulch ring around the base of this ornamental. Like typical hybrid tea roses, this perennial shrub adores moisture. Water it weekly with at least 1 to 2 inches of water. To encourage blooming, feed this shrub an N-P-K fertilizer with more phosphorus/potassium versus nitrogen, one to two times per month from spring until early fall. This formulation should encourage the plant to direct more of its energy to blooming rather than foliage growth.
Prune Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose during March/April. Trim any damaged, dead, and/or diseased canes. Also, cut back the remaining healthy canes by about one-third. This will encourage growth and better blooming.
Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose Spacing
Add color, height, texture and charm to borders, beds, and containers with Sweet Mademoiselle™ Hybrid Tea Rose. If growing as a specimen, allow 3 to 5 feet of space around the planting site. If growing en masse, space shrubs 3 feet apart. To plant this ornamental in a container, choose a pot with 20” x 14” dimensions. Good companion plants include lavender, geranium, and foxglove.
