Mature Spread
Tango celery is a superior variety that produces tender, crunchy stalks. Tango celery has a sweet flavor and produces higher yields than other varieties. The fusarium-resistant stalks can stand up to fluctuating temperatures, which make them a hardy choice for gardens throughout the country. Stalks can reach 18” in length, and are tender, crunchy, sweet, and fresh.
Tango celery is a green, tender celery that grows up to 18” in height. They can spread 6-8”. Celery can be harvested by cutting the stalks at ground level with a sharp, clean knife. Leaves can be dehydrated and used as a seasoning. Stalks can be frozen for later cooking use.
Tango Celery Plant Care
Sow celery seeds indoors 10-12 weeks before the last hard frost in northern climates. In warmer climates, sow from fall through early spring. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep and keep evenly moist. Grow under a fluorescent light or on a sunny windowsill. Turn the light off for 8 hours every night. Seedlings emerge 10-21 days after sowing seeds. It takes between 3-4 weeks (115 days) for Tango Celery to reach maturity. Stalks get up to 18” tall at maturity. Tie celery plants together to discourage sprawl.
