Hydrangeas are the perfect filler for shadier spots around the garden. Tiny Quick Fire™ is a Hydrangea paniculata perfect for the smallest garden or a special container on a deck or patio. This Hydrangea is covered in profuse white blooms that blush with pink as they age from May to the first frost.
Tiny Quick Fire™ is one of the most drought-tolerant hydrangeas and is easy to care for. The flowers form on new wood, meaning there is no wrong time to prune this shrub. The lovely flowers can be used fresh in arrangements or dried for fall and winter displays.
Tiny Quick Fire™ Hydrangea Care
Plant Hydrangeas in almost any position in the garden. Full sun, part shade, or full shade (4 hours of shade) are suitable. Tiny Quick Fire™ will not change flower color due to pH levels in the soil. Acidic or alkaline soil produces creamy-white flowers all summer long. Average, well-drained soil is essential. Hydrangea does not tolerate heavy soil. Fertilize hydrangea early in the spring with a granular fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs and perennials. A slow-release type will ensure consistent feeding all growing season.
Tiny Quick Fire™ Hydrangea can be pruned back anytime of the year but will have the best blooming and shape if trimmed early in spring. Remove any dead, diseased, or dying branches. Cut out branches that cross or rub and reduce the length of branches by one-third. Deadhead spent flower spikes to keep the overall look of the shrub tidy and fresh. Deadheading also encourages more flowers to form. Apply 2-3 inches of arborist chips or shredded leaves to insulate the root zone during the winter.
Tiny Quick Fire™ Spacing
The overall size of Tiny Quick Fire™ is very compact, with a mature height and spread of about 36 inches. Space shrubs 36 inches apart on the center when planting multiples. Grow Tiny Quick Fire™ in a container with at least a 16-inch diameter.
