Growing Zones
Blooming from July until August, the Visions in Pink Astilbe is perfect for adding some elegant color to your garden. Also known as Astilbe chinensis Visions in Pink, this perennial grows to no more than two feet high and develops pale pink flowering spikes above its blue-green leaves. Loved by pollinators, its blooms are also perfect as a cut flower.
With an upright form, the flowers are held aloft strong stems. It is resistant to deer but known to attract both hummingbirds and butterflies. Perfect for summer interest, Visions in Pink Astilbe is suitable for growing in zones 3 to 8. Perhaps best when grown in a group, astilbes are ideal for planting in an herbaceous border that receives dappled shade.
Visions in Pink Astilbe Care
Thriving in partial shade, Astilbes need protection from the harshest midday sun. Visions in Pink Astilbe thrives when grown in well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. It requires moist, but not soggy soil and appreciates a slow-release fertilizer application in spring. Annual mulching will help conserve moisture loss over the hot summer months.
You can deadhead the spent blooms to keep a tidy appearance. In early spring, simply cut back the old foliage before new growth appears. When container grown, regular irrigation is required to prevent the soil from drying out.
Visions in Pink Astilbe Spacing
In the right conditions, Visions in Pink Astilbe can reach 18 to 24 inches tall and 24 to 30 inches wide. A spacing of around 30 inches is ideal when planting en masse.
