Growing Zones
The Bloom-A-Thon Hot Pink Azalea by Proven Winners ColorChoice has vivid pink flowers from April all the way to the first freeze in late fall. This stunning azalea is also a semi-evergreen, which means it keeps the outer leaves on the branches year long, and the inner leaves on the branches fall off in the winter. Both disease and heat resistant, this plant is easy to care for and does excellent in the hottest summer days. It is re-blooming, which means it blooms on old and new wood if pruned properly. We recommend planting these in garden planters, in mass plantings or even as a blooming evergreen hedge as a border.
Bloom-A-Thon Hot Pink Azalea Care
These bushes do best in well drained soil in a location with some afternoon shade. Watering weekly is sufficient, however during hot and dry periods, more than weekly may be necessary. Fertilize using common azalea & rhododendron fertilizer, but never past mid-July. We recommend applying a layer of mulch 2 to 3 inches deep around the base of the plant. Pruning Bloom-A-Thon Hot Pink Azaleas is recommended each year. This is best done in early summer once the initial flowers start to fade. A light trimming around the entire plant is best. This promotes new growth and new flowers to form the rest of the summer, and late into fall until the first hard freeze.
Bloom-A-Thon Hot Pink Azalea Spacing
Plant the bushes 3.5 to 4.5 feet apart, center on center. To grow a flowering evergreen hedge, you can plant 3 feet apart, center on center.
