The Bloom-A-Thon Lavender Azalea by Proven Winners ColorChoice is a very rare purple flowering azalea. This shrub not only blooms in a color that is hard to find, but it also puts on a show by blooming for over 5 months throughout the spring, summer and fall! Plus the foliage is semi-evergreen. Meaning the outer leaves on the branches stay green year long, and the inner leaves fall during the winter.

The bushes are fantastic in mass plantings to have color all season and year long. We also enjoy these as flowering evergreen hedges and borders. These azaleas also make great plants for garden planters due to the fact of the long bloom time and year long foliage.

These shrubs are disease resistant and take minimal care in order to have beautiful shrubs. All Bloom-A-Thon azaleas also do great in hot conditions and are heat tolerant even during the hottest summer days in southern states.

Bloom-A-Thon Lavender Azalea Care

Plant these shrubs in well drained soil that is rich with nutrients. These do best with plenty of sun, but some afternoon shade in hot climates is a good idea. If you have a full sun location, these bushes will still perform very well. Watering is necessary weekly but sometimes these require more water than that during hot and dry summer conditions.

These azaleas do best with a 2 to 3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant. This helps retain moisture and protect the shallow roots. You may fertilize once a year using common azalea & rhododendron fertilizer, but do not do so after mid-July.

Pruning Bloom-A-Thon Lavender Azaleas is best done once a year. This promotes new growth and flower buds. It is best to trim in early summer as the first round of blooms start to fade. Do a conservative light cutting around the entire plant.

Bloom-A-Thon Lavender Azalea Spacing

Plant these shrubs 3 to 4 feet apart, center on center. If you would like to grow a flowering evergreen hedge, you can plant these 30 inches apart, center on center.
