Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower, an Echinacea hybrid, will put on a sizzling show in the garden. The creamy yellow double flowers are so pretty that they're best displayed in a large, mass planting for a meadow effect. Of course, one of these coneflowers also will stand out in a container or in front of shrubs in the garden bed. The easy-care hybrid of the popular Echinacea draws butterflies, bees, and birds to its soft yellow, rounded flower head.
Echinaceas like Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower also can handle some drought and grow well in heat. This pretty flower holds its color longer than many and the plant is hardy in zones 4 through 9, so it also handles cold evenings. The leaves re-emerge in spring from the base of the plant, giving rise to pretty yellow blooms by summer. You can cut and even dry the flowers for a unique addition to flower arrangements.
Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower Care
Grow Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower in full or partial sun, making sure the plant gets at least 4 hours of sun a day. The more sun it gets, the better. Be sure to plant your coneflower in soil that drains well and water regularly when flowering and not getting rainfall. Once the coneflower is established, it can handle periods of drought. Coneflowers need little help, and really don't need fertilizing. Adding an organic compost or mulch around the soil each spring is all the nutrition they should need.
Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower Spacing
For a creamy yellow color explosion, plant Double Scoop Lemon Cream Coneflower plants about 16 to 22 inches apart in a garden bed or border.
