Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower is a big helping of bright orange-red color in a classic favorite. The Echinacea hybrid has all we love about coneflowers, including its bee, bird, and butterfly attracting properties. The plants also are drought tolerant, can handle heat and cold and are largely ignored by deer. But this is not a typical purple coneflower. The deep orange-red double flowers will brighten any container or garden bed.
The flowers of Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower reach about 2 feet high, so this pretty herb/flower can be a terrific thriller in nearly any container. The flowers also can act as low border plants or a field of bright orange-red as a mass planting. Echinacea is an excellent cut or dried flower. Imagine adding the deep fire color of these blooms to a flower arrangement. The versatile plant should be a hardy perennial in zones 4 through 9.
Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower Care
Plant Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower in partial to full sun for brilliant summer color. Choose a soil or potting mix that drains well so the roots don't stay soggy. Once the plant is established, it can handle periods of drought. Instead of fertilizer, apply a layer of compost each spring to feed the flowers slowly. Too much fertilizer makes them grow lanky. Remove faded flowers to encourage new blooms from side shoots on the stems.
Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower Spacing
For a mass planting or border, place Double Scoop Orangeberry Coneflower plants about 16 to 22 inches apart to make sure they get good air circulation.
